Infectious Diseases

You'll see more hepatitis C treated in primary care
Hep C now kills more Americans than any other infectious disease...and about half of hep C patients don't know they're infected.
Consider screening for, and managing, hep C...just like you would for heart disease, diabetes, etc.
Screen patients with hep C risk factors such as IV drug use, dialysis, or HIV...at least once and then based on risk of reinfection.
Do a one-time screening for EVERYONE born from 1945 to 1965
Screen by checking for HCV antibody...and use billing code G0472.
Confirm the diagnosis with the HCV-PCR test.
