You'll hear debate about how to manage hypertension in diabetes patients...due to new JNC 8 hypertension guidelines.
   ACEIs or ARBs are the usual initial choice in diabetes patients.
   Now JNC 8 says it's also okay to use a calcium channel blocker (CCB) or thiazide first in diabetes patients...because there isn't strong evidence that an ACEI or ARB leads to better CV outcomes.
   But other experts point out that diabetes patients often have other reasons for using an ACEI or ARB such as CV or kidney disease.
